Annual Report 2008
In the past year, the region has seen tremendous progress in its efforts to advance clean energy and climate change solutions. Multiple states became national leaders in the area of energy policy by committing to triple investments in energy efficiency, and ENE has been appointed to stakeholder boards in four states to help implement this sweeping agenda. The northeast and mid-Atlantic states successfully launched RGGI, the nation’s first mandatory cap and trade program. ENE also helped advance innovative solutions in the transportation and forest sectors, advocating a regional low carbon fuel standard and developing important regional models for protecting and enhancing the capacity of our abundant forestlands to store and sequester carbon and combat global warming.
